More Fines for Prisons

A Montgomery judge has imposed new fines on the state deparment of corrections for allowing a backlog of state prisoners in county jails. Money from the fines will be spent on finding space for more than 16-hundred state inmates backlogged in overcrowded local jails. Judge William Shashy also wants to know where proceeds from a 2 point 4 million dollars land sale in Atmore is being held.  As of mid-April, the state owes 2 point 16 million dollars in fines.
