Pilot killed after mid-air crash over Limestone Co.

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - A Shoals pilot was killed after his plane crashed at Calhoun Community College early Saturday afternoon.

The Limestone County coroner, Mike West, has identified the pilot as 41-year-old Steven G. Raddatz of Tuscumbia.

Rescue crews on the scene told WAFF 48 News that Raddatz died on impact after his plane collided in mid air with the plane of friend B. J. Kennamore on Calhoun Community College's Decatur Campus off Highway 31.

Kennamore, also from Tuscumbia, landed his plane at Pryor Field and is not seriously injured.

The Federal Aviation Administration and Limestone County Sheriff's Department are investigating the crash.
