MPS looks to Bio-diesel technology to save money

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- A major partnership is in place to help Montgomery schools save money.

Wednesday, Alabama State University and agriculture officials announced they are partnering in a study to find out if used cooking oil from Montgomery county school cafeterias can be used to run the system's buses.

ASU students will turn the oil into bio-diesel.

MPS officials tell WSFA 12 News the system spends more than a million dollars on fuel each year, so this would make a big difference.
