Covering Lee County: State sends help for BF Goodrich employees

Opelika, Ala. (WSFA) -- The State Department of Industrial Relations is sending help to BF Goodrich employees who are losing their jobs.

The tire plant is another victim of a downturn in the economy.

Starting Tuesday, workers can come to the Opelika campus of Southern Union Community College and register for the state's free job search database.  Currently, there are more than 5,300 job openings posted on

State workers will be there to assist in the sign up for help. Sessions are at 8:00 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
