MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Investigators believe extortion to be a possible motive in the city's latest homicide. The suspect is identified as Rontavious Holloway, 22, or West Haven Lane. The victim is identified as Holloway's girlfriend, though her name was not released.

Investigators say they responded to a call around 2:15am Thursday at Holloway's home. When they arrived they found the victim, a 47-year-old female lying in the street. She had been shot twice in the back. The victim was also wearing a mask and clutching a knife when police came upon her body.

She was taken to Jackson Hospital where she was pronounced dead nearly 30 minutes later.

During the investigation Holloway told investigators he saw the victim near his bedroom window and that he went outside and shot the person. Further investigation lead the police to believe the scene was staged.

Holloway reportedly told police the victim was attempting to extort money from him.

Authorities cited premeditation and the circumstances surrounding the murder as reasons to seek an excessive bond in this case. Holloway is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on $200,000 bond.
