JASPER, Ala. (AP) - The body of a 23-year-old soldier killed in Iraq has returned home to Alabama. The plane carrying U.S. Army Cpl. Charles Dustin "Dusty" Parrish's body landed Thursday at the Birmingham International Airport, where it was transferred to a hearse from a Jasper funeral home.
Parrish's family, the Army and Patriot Guard members escorted the body to Jasper.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. on Kiro-Gambrell Field at Walker High School. The funeral home said other arrangements are also being made if there is inclement weather. Parrish died June 4 as a result of injuries he sustained during an anti-tank grenade attack in Jahlad, Iraq.
