Arrests in intersection shootout

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The case is moving forward in Saturday evening's shootout between people in two cars at a Montgomery intersection. One man died as a result.

On Tuesday, Major Huey Thornton with the Montgomery Police Department confirmed two arrests.

Peter Mungro, 25, and Marvin Gaston, 17, both of 1945 Hillsdale Drive were arrested and charged with Capital Murder.

The suspects are charged with the murder of 19-year-old Terrance Ponder. Ponder was shot in the head and back and died at a local hospital hours later. Steve Arrington, 19, was also wounded in the altercation, but was able to drive Ponder to the hospital.

Police recovered two pistols from the victims' vehicle, one of which was reported stolen.

Investigators have yet to identify a motive in this case.

Mungro and Gaston are being held on no bond at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
