TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - University of Alabama President Robert Witt says he has "100 percent" confidence in athletic director Mal Moore despite the Tide's second probation with Moore at the helm of the department.
Witt said Thursday he believes Alabama has the finest athletic director in the country.
Finis St. John, the president pro tem of the university's board of trustees, also said he did not think Moore was responsible for the problems.
The NCAA put Alabama on three years probation and vacated 21 wins for the football team due to improper use of free textbooks by scholarship athletes.
Alabama is appealing the ruling.
