New jail to be named in honor of former sheriff

A long time sheriff of Montgomery County is being honored.  The county commission voted on Monday to honor the late Mac Sim Butler by naming the new jail addition after him.

Sheriff Butler served from 1995 to 1990 when he retired.

The new $55 million facility located across the street from the current jail, will be named the Mac Sim Butler Montgomery County Detention Center.

Sheriff Butler died in 2001.
