Arrest in city's latest murder

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department is investigating a murder that took place Monday night on Crossway Drive.

Officers pulled up on the scene of a shooting at 2424 Crossway Drive around 8:00pm.

Once there they found Frederick Crittenden, 37, of 4300 Woodley Square inside a vehicle. He'd been shot in the chest.

There was a second victim. An unnamed 25-year-old man walked into Baptist Hospital with graze wounds to his right thigh and left shin. Authorities said he told them he was shot in Gibbs Village also, but refused to answer questions or cooperate with the investigation. He is also unwilling to prosecute.

While officers worked the crime seen an anonymous person called police and fingered Steven Anderson, 28 of 1857 Gibbs Circle as the shooter. The police department's preliminary information from other witnesses confirmed the same.

Steven Anderson was found outside his home and questioned. Police then arrested and charged him the murder.

Anderson is now in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $75,000 bond.

Police believe the motive was spawned from an argument over someone shooting in the area earlier that escalated into the suspect shooting the victim.
