MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery County Public School Board accepted a memorandum drafted by the city that outlines a two year financial transition of the junior high school sports program from the city to the school system.
The program costs more than one million dollars to run. City leaders proposed helping with those costs for two years.
The interim superintendent, Clay Slagle also proposed new school start times. Traditional elementary schools would be 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Traditional middle/junior high schools would be 7:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. Traditional high schools 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and most magnet schools 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
No word on when the board will vote on either measure.
