MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Auburn's Community Development Office is helping folks buy a home. The North West Village Subdivision is Auburn's newest affordable housing development.

The three bedroom, two bath homes appraise for $110,000, but the program helps qualified families move in for $88,000.  The program also pays closing cots.  "If you can afford to stay in an apartment for five or six hundred dollars a month you can own your own home," says Sharon Tolbert, Director of the Auburn Community Development Office.

There are two homes still for sale.  Once they are sold, the city will start building another five.

Families must have decent credit, $500 down and complete housing counseling before moving in.
