MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - It happened in broad daylight. Now the search is on for a man wanted for assault.
Police say a 29-year-old man was shot in the chest at 4679 Conti Lane around 11:15am.
The victim, who was not identified, doesn't live at the residence. Authorities say he was responding to his father's call for help. The father was apparently arguing with the suspect.
The victim was out of surgery at last check but listed in serious condition at an area hospital.
It's ironic. The location of the shooting is next door to a family participating in the "Enough is Enough" anti-crime campaign. There is a sign planted in their front yard.
The suspect's name and a description were not immediately available.
Police are asking for the public's help in this case. If you saw or know anything call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.
