Some cities not participating in this year's sales tax holiday

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An all-important weekend for you to remember is just around the corner.  The state's sales tax holiday is set for the weekend of August 7th-9th.  That's when parents can shop for back-to-school supplies tax free, but up to a limit.

However, not all cities and towns are participating. According to the Alabama Department of Revenue, around 45 cities are opting out this year.

Most of the towns like Coosada say they simply don't have any businesses that sell school supplies.

While some towns are not participating, around 300 others are.

A quick look at what's exempt - Up to $100 in school clothes, $750 or less for computers and $50 or less for school supplies such as books and paper.
