Birmingham's "City Stages" comes to an end

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WSFA) - A Birmingham tradition has come to an end. After 21 years, the Majic City's music festival "City Stages" is over.

Event organizers released a statement Thursday saying the expenses of the music festival exceed revenues and City Stages will not return.

Attendence for 2009's event was at an all time low; not to mention low ticket sales, the recent economic downturn and weather challenges.

Birmingham's Mayor  Larry Langford called the decision "...a sign of the times."

"City Stages" started in 1989.
