WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - The state rested its case in the Capital Murder trial of Calvin McMillan Thursday.
McMillan is accused of gunning down Bryan Martin in the Millbrook Wal-Mart parking lot in late 2007. The prosecution says the motive was to steal Martin's Ford pickup truck.
Martin's wife was the last Witness to take to the stand for the state.
"It's very tough on her," said District Attorney Randall Houston. "It's important the jury know that Bryan Martin had a wife who loved him. It's important for the jury to know that somebody cared about him and had an impact on his life."
Earlier in the day a police officer presented evidence from Martin's truck, which was found a day after the killing. Police chased the truck before finding it in an apartment complex parking lot.
Evidence presented included clothing and a camera that belonged to McMillan. The police interrogation video was also shown to jurors.
The defense will now present its case for McMillan, who has pleaded not guilty.
