Massachusetts man to face murder charges for fatal beating of son

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A murder arraignment has been scheduled for a Worcester man accused in the fatal beating of his 7-year-old son on Father's Day.

The office of Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early announced that 36-year-old Leslie Schuler would be arraigned on a murder charge Tuesday afternoon in Central District Court.

Schuler is currently being held on $250,000 cash bail following his arraignment last week for assault and battery on a child and other charges.

Nathaniel Turner, who until recently had been living with his grandmother in Alabama, was declared brain dead last week and was removed from a ventilator Saturday at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Spokesman Timothy Connolly said earlier Monday that the DA's office was working to upgrade charges against Schuler to include that of murder.
