Disaster centers set to close

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Time is running out for victims of May's flooding to visit area Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs).

The state and federal disaster recovery centers in Elmore, Bullock, and Montgomery counties will close Thursday, July 2.

Until that time, the centers in Elmore and Montgomery County are open daily from 8am to 6pm.

The Bullock County center is open from 9am to 4:30pm.

Help will remain available to those who need it even after the DRCs close. You can call FEMA toll-free at 800-621-3362 or (TTY) 800-462-7585, and selecting the helpline option.

Operators are available from 7am to 10pm daily.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
