OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - WSFA 12 News' sister station in Columbus, Ga. has confirmed an arrest in a brutal Lee County knife attack.

The suspect, 26-year-old Charles Ledbetter, surrendered to authorities late Wednesday morning.

Authorities say he stabbed his "soon-to-be ex-wife" and a male friend of hers as they returned to her apartment.

Opelika police say Ledbetter was already inside his wife's apartment at the Ski-Lodge Apartment Complex Monday night when she returned with her friend.

The three of them started arguing and that's when police say Ledbetter pulled out a knife.

The woman, who was not identified by name, suffered approximately 15 to 20 stab wounds. The male victim was stabbed twice.

Ledbetter now faces attempted murder, assault and burglary charges.
