Updated: Drownings in Macon County

MACON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Three boaters have died when their boat overturned on a fishing pond in Macon County on Monday afternoon.

The Macon County Sheriff's Office tells WSFA 12 News the victims are identified as Gregory Levett, 34, Huey Bennett, 51, and Calvin Bell, 41.  Each victim lived in Macon County.

Witnesses say the front of their boat sank into the water.  The men were heard screaming for help.

Macon County Sheriff's Deputies and a team from the Tallassee Fire Department spent hours combing the waters for the three victims.  All were pronounced dead on the scene.

All three victims were transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences lab in Montgomery for autopsies.

Deputies are still investigating the incident.
