Church bus crash kills 1 in Miss., leaves 27 hurt

MERIDIAN, Miss. (KSLA) -- One person is dead, 27 others injured after a church bus flips over. It happened at the Mississippi-Alabama state line near Meridian, Mississippi.

We're told the bus was carrying a church youth group from Shreveport, Louisiana to a location in Georgia.   Officials on the scene say the bus flipped 3 times on Interstate 20 and trapped some passengers underneath. Church officials confirm a teen-aged boy died.

Miraculously, a bus of military personnel including triage nurses was traveling behind the first baptist bus when it crashed.  They were able to immediately start medical care and also turn the bus back over to get all of the passengers out of the way.

"Our worship this morning became an occasion for us to settle ourselves in the convictions of faith we have. God is a big God. He's right there on the spot. He can be trusted," said senior pastor Greg Hunt.
