Chilton Co. deputy hit with own taser

Updated by: Mario Hendricks - bio | email

Chilton County, Ala. (WSFA) -- A Chilton County sheriff's deputy pulls over a driver suspected of DUI and gets more than he bargained for.

Officials tell us when the deputy made the traffic stop, the driver fought with him, grabbed his taser then used the taser on the deputy shocking him in the chest.

We're told the suspect then tried to run over the deputy before taking off on foot.

Officers did eventually catch up with the man. Both he and deputy were treated for minor injuries.
