Marion President chosen

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Board of Education has picked retired Marine Corps Col. David Mollahan to become president of Marion Military Institute.

The board voted unanimously Tuesday for Mollahan to take over leadership of the two-year college in west Alabama.

Mollahan is currently director of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He will resign that post to assume the Marion presidency in August.

State Board of Education member Ella Bell of Montgomery said Mollahan was "absolutely superb" in his interview for the presidency.
