MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - The Millbrook Police Department with assistance from the Prattville Police Department apprehended a suspect in connection with a murder in Millbrook.

22-year-old Jamie Tarcell Brown, of Prattville, AL, was arrested without incident and later transported to the Elmore County Jail charged with murder. Brown alledgedly shot and killed 20-year-old Javius Dewayne Thomas, of Wetumpka, AL, after a physical altercation.

"This is an extremely unfortunate incident and a waste of human life. We believe that this was a disturbance that got out of hand due to the introduction of a firearm", stated Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson. "We are blessed that our city does not have a preponderance of violent crime such as this. Unfortunately none are immune from this type of incident. I am proud of the manner in which our officers responded to this case and we greatly appreciate the assistance from the Prattville Police Department", added Chief Johnson.
