EVERGREEN, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama woman, her son, a grandson and a friend have been accused of taking part in a plot to kill her 74-year-old husband last month.
Police arrested 64-year-old Mary Crews Wiggins of Evergreen Friday in connection with the death of Rudy Wiggins, who was gunned down outside his home June 29.
Officer Sean Klaetsch says her 34-year-old son, Joseph Ruffin, was taken into custody in Oakland County, Mich., on Tuesday. Officers in Dothan arrested 19-year-old Joshua Griffin on Wednesday, and Evergreen officers arrested Kristofer Mobley on Tuesday.
All have been charged with capital murder and have been denied bond.
Officers say Wiggins had a $100,000 life insurance policy with his wife as beneficiary and had started divorce proceedings.
