ELMORE CO, AL (WSFA) - Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin says a horse may be at the center of a father vs. son shooting in Elmore County.

The shooting happened Wednesday evening near Slapout on County Road 23.

An initial investigation by deputies shows that the father and son, who have not been identified, were arguing over the welfare of the animal.

The argument escalated into a shooting when the father pulled a gun and shot his son in the leg.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
