Covering Covington County: Major road project set to begin

Andalusia, Ala. (WSFA) -- The city of Andalusia received a $1.4 million grant to repair Riverfalls Street.

This is one of the main thoroughfares in downtown Andalusia.   However, over the years the street has deteriorated.  As a result, many businesses moved out of the area.

Upgrades to Riverfalls will include a new sewage system, sidewalks, lighting and more.

The project is estimated to cost around $4 million dollars.   The city will issue bonds to cover the rest of the costs.

Work should begin around the first of the year.
