MPS opens bus info hotline

Montgomery, Ala. - The Montgomery Public School system has opened its Transportation Hotlines where parents can get information on routes, schedules and pickup times.

"This is especially important this year as we have had changes in some schools' start and dismissal times and the new rules for magnet students who ride busses," said Interim Superintendent Clay Slagle. "We hope parents find this service helpful."

The Hotline for special education students is 284-2085 and 223-6900 for all other riders. The phones will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday until August 7, and from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. August 10 - 14.

Parents may call those numbers 24 hours a day and leave a message. Parents may also email questions to

"In some cases, our operators may have to do some research and call a parent back," said MPS Transportation Director Michael Cox. "We will work as quickly as we can to get information to our parents."

Montgomery Public Schools transports over 15,000 students over two million miles in a typical school year. This is the second year MPS has offered this hotline service.
