Alabama woman convicted of helping armed robbery in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A woman has been convicted for her role in a 2008 armed robbery that left two Dothan police officers wounded.

Teona Sterling was found guilty Thursday of three counts of kidnapping, two counts of attempted murder and first-degree robbery. She will be sentenced in September. Sterling could face up to life sentences for each of the charges. She will remain in custody in the Houston County jail.

Authorities say Sterling and Kira Watson dropped Andrevis Deon Davis off at a convenience store he planned to rob and called to warn him when police arrived. A gun battle ensued, wounding Davis and the two officers. Davis is serving 900 years in prison after being convicted in November. Watson was convicted earlier this year and sentenced to 45 years.
