Point Clear, AL (AP) - Eight candidates for Alabama's next governor were under one roof this weekend for an early candidates forum; the election is still more than 15 months away.
This weekend, they showed some areas of common agreement, but they also showed common disagreement with federal government efforts to reform health care.
The Business Council of Alabama played host to the forum Saturday at Marriott's Grand Hotel.
Participants gave opening and closing statements and answered a wide range of questions.
The Republican candidates are State Rep. Robert Bentley; Bradley Byrne, Former Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System; State Treasurer Kay Ivey; Businessman Tim James; Former State Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and Former Alabama Department of Community Affairs Director Bill Johnson.
