FAYDETTE, AL (WSFA) - A child in Geneva County is fighting to survive after being struck by a van.

Alabama State Troopers say 2-year-old Israel Lopez was outside with his father, 37 year-old Bernardo Lopez, when he wandered off.

The child walked infront of the van, driven by Jimmy Tharpe, 68, of Alford, Florida as it traveled down County Road 49 around 8pm Sunday.

The boy is at Southeast Alabama Medical Center were officials say his injuries are life-threatening.
