Dothan police chief resigns

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - Dothan Police Chief John Powell is leaving the circle city to persue a state job in Florida.

WSFA 12 News confirmed the chief's decision a short time ago.

Powell will take a position with the Florida Department of Business Professional and Regulation Division of the Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (Floriday AB&T).

Dothan city manager Mike West said "We wish him well with this new position. We will initiate a recruitment process for a new chief of police immediately."
