MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery police have made an arrest in a murder that took place in the wee hours of New Year's Day.

Investigators say they arrested Kenneth Stewart, 40, of Fieldbrook Drive Tuesday for the murder of a man at the Peddlers Inn that morning. Shawn Rodgers, 32, was shot in the neck and died a short time later at an area hospital. A woman was also shot in the incident but survived.

Authorities say Capital Murder and Attempted Murder warrants were obtained for Stewart after the surviving victim positively identified him as the shooter.

Stewart is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

His photo is not being released pending other photographic line-ups in other unrelated crimes.
