MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Police are shifting their focus from a shooting investigation to that of a murder as the victim in a late June shooting dies.
Lieutenant Mark Drinkard of the Montgomery Police Department confirmed the death Tuesday night of Cornelius Thomas.
Thomas, 29, was shot in the chest after going to a home at 4679 Conti Lane back on June 24 of this year. He was reportedly responding to his father's call for help as the father and suspect argued.
Medics transported him to Baptist Medical Center in critical condition where he remained for more than a month-and-a-half.
Drinkard said the department is continuing to follow leads in the case, but that none of those leads were available for release to the media.
A suspect's name has not been released.
