UAB announces athletic Hall of Fame

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - UAB is creating an athletics hall of fame.

The university said the inaugural class will include former basketball coach Gene Bartow and be inducted Oct. 1-2.

The other inductees will be former university President S. Richardson Hill, former men's basketball player Oliver Robinson and former women's basketball player Wanda Hightower Jordan, along with longtime supporter and former senior vice president for finance Jerry D. Young.

The group will be recognized during the football game against Southern Miss on October 1 and at a banquet the following evening.
