AU's young receivers catching on quickly

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn's freshman receivers are catching a lot of praise, and receivers coach Trooper Taylor expects all four of them to play this season.

Taylor says Emory Blake, DeAngelo Benton, Anthony Gulley and Travante Stallworth have done well enough that the Tigers might even ask a veteran to redshirt to make room in the playing rotation for the youngsters.

Montez Billings is the only returning wide receiver with more than eight catches last season, and he missed the first spring practice because of academic issues.

Taylor said Billings is expected to be available for the opener Sept. 5 against Louisiana Tech, and the coach said Billings, Darvin Adams and Terrell Zachery top his rotation.

The 21-year-old Benton was the top recruit among the receivers.
