UA's Griffin lost for season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama reserve running back Jeramie Griffin has been lost for the season with a knee injury.

Coach Nick Saban said Thursday that Griffin tore an ACL during a noncontact drill.

Griffin is a third-year sophomore. He had six carries for 29 yards last season.

Also Thursday, senior kicker Leigh Tiffin was named to the Lou Groza Award preseason watch list. The award is presented annually to the nations top place-kicker by the Palm Beach (Fla.) Sports Commission. Tiffin is one of 31 preseason candidates, including five SEC kickers.
