MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature today, the 4th day of a special session:
-Met briefly and took care of procedural matters.
-Recognized Rep. Oliver Robinson, D-Birmingham, for his admission into the inaugural class of the UAB Sports Hall of Fame. SENATE
-Passed a resolution and had a short ceremony mourning the death of longtime Senate employee Dodie Pappanastos.
-Passed a resolution mourning the death of Jack Miller, a longtime member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees and former chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party.
-Confirmed the nominations to the Alabama A&M of Mobile businessman Norman Hill; Rev. Tom Bell of Huntsville, a United Methodist minister; Odysseus Lanier, founding partner of a Houston, Texas-based accounting firm, and Lucien Blankenship, the owner of the Birmingham Power women's pro basketball team.
