MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Nearly a week after 20-month-old Juan Misseldine went missing, good news. The child has been located safely.

The boy went missing on August 15 when Juan Gomez, 24, drove off with the child. The case was handled as an Interference of Custody investigation, a Class C felony.

Authorities never believed the child to be in any physical danger.

The boy's recovery happened around 1:45am Friday after a security officer at Three Flags Apartments in Montgomery recognized Gomez. The man was knocking on the door of an apartment.

The security officer told authorities that when no one answered the door, Gomez handed the infant over to him and drove off in a silver four-door Honda Accord.

The security officer immediately took Misseldine to police headquarters. Medics were called but they reported no injuries to the child.

The child was reunited with his mother a short time later.

As for Gomez, police are still looking for him. He reportedly told the security officer he'd planned to go to Florida.
