DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -   The city of Dothan is considering a number of changes to its wastewater fees.

At their recent commission meeting Dothan city leaders discussed at length a number of proposals that would adjust the rates and fees for its utility customers.

Commissioners are considering making changes to grease trap fees for commercial businesses, raising rates for those who use the city's sewer but live outside city limits.

As well, budget billing, a plan for customers on fixed incomes who struggle to pay a monthly bill that may change drastically.

"These are some items that are housekeeping items, items to pace our rates, fees, some increases we need to do, and while we're making other changes we're recommending doing those at the same time," says Billy Mayes, director for Dothan Utilities.

Commissioners agreed to move forward on these changes are should vote on them during their next meeting.
