MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Three days after the Montgomery Police Department issued a murder warrant for the arrest of Alonzo Pettway, the man has turned himself in.

Pettway is one of three suspects now charged with the murder of 28-year-old Ossie Sanders, Jr. Jarius M. Fenderson, 19, and a 14-year-old who is believed to have started the fight, are already in custody.

Pettway is being held on a $75,000 bond.

Sanders died in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 22. Investigators say he was with a woman who was buying drugs on E. Woodland Drive when the drug dealer tried to take her purse.

When Sanders tried to intervene, a street fight erupted. Witnesses told police some 15 people gathered on the sidewalk and a fight broke out. When the incident was over everyone ran on foot, bicyles or in cars except for Sanders.

He remained on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and stab wounds from a screwdriver.

Medics pronounced the man dead just minutes after arriving on the scene.

Investigators continue to piece together the crime, and say they will make additional arrests.
