Prostitution sting nets 10 suspects

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Deparment has stepped up its fight against prostitution in the capital city. Tuesday saw the arrest of ten suspects in connection with the department's latest sting operation. Seven suspects were arrested just over a week ago in a similar campaign.

The location: Mobile Highway and W. Edgemont Avenue.

Female patrol officers acting as prostitutes were approached by numerous men, aged 19 to 49, each allegedly offering money in return for sex.

The suspects:

1. Adam Smedley, age 45, 512 County Road 85 Jones Alabama

2. Eddie Purnell, age 32, 717 Ripley Street Montgomery, Alabama

3. Reginald Hall, age 39, 880 Erskine Street Montgomery, Alabama

4. George Scott, age 48, 2565 Drake Street Montgomery, Alabama

5. Kenneth Williams, age 49, 9004 Fifth Avenue North Birmingham, Alabama
(Williams also has an outstanding warrant with Jefferson County for Fraudulent Use of Credit Card)

6. Jerimiah Stallworth, age 19, 424 Adler Drive Montgomery Alabama

7. Darryl Blue, age 46, 4201 Green Meadow Drive Montgomery, Alabama

8. Jamichael Davis, age 46, 3721 Lower Wetumpka Road, Montgomery, Alabama

9. Corey Brown, age 38, 2607 Shadow Wood Road Montgomery, Alabama
(Brown also has an outstanding misdemeanour warrant with our agency)

10. Darron McGhee, age 41, 100 Connie Circle Montgomery, Alabama
(McGhee also has one outstanding misdemeanour warrant with our agency and six capias)

MPD says the sting was in response to citizen complaints in the area. Prostitution is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
