Traffic was backed up on Interstate 85 after a high speed chase ended in a crash on Thursday night.
It began at mile marker 16 by the Waugh Exit, when troopers tried to stop a car for speeding. According to state troopers, the car was driving 95 in a 70 mph area. The driver accelerated to over 100 mph and weaved in and out of traffic.
The chase ended just three miles from where it began, when the car crashed, hitting two 18 wheelers and a minivan. There were four people inside the speeding car, two people stayed inside the vehicle while the other two took off on foot. Authorities have caught both of those suspects.
