BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

UPDATE: Michael Moore was in Boone County court on Tuesday. His bond was set at $250,000.

PREVIOUSLY:

Boone County Sheriff's investigators have served a criminal arrest warrant for Michael Ernst Moore.

Moore is accused of murdering his parents, Warren and Madge Moore, in their Union home. He faces two counts of murder, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of possession of a handgun and one count of falsely reporting an incident.

Police say Michael Moore shot and killed his parents, then altered physical evidence, including a handgun, clothing and blood, with the intent to impair its verity or availability in an official proceeding. Police also say he was in possession of a handgun after having been convicted of a felony offense in Ohio.

Warren Moore served the city of Union for more than 27 years as commissioner, mayor and administrator. Michael Moore is a former Warren County sheriff's deputy.

The Boone County coroner's office says Warren and Madge Moore both died from gunshot wounds to the head. Michael Moore was shot in the leg.

Michael Moore was already in custody at the Boone County jail on unrelated charges.
