TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's offense managed just fine with limited roles by three of its biggest playmakers - at least for one game.
The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide beat Florida International 40-14 on Saturday night without the usual contributions from receiver Julio Jones or tailbacks Mark Ingram and Roy Upchurch.
Jones had only one catch after banging up his right knee early. Ingram still managed 103 all-purpose yards despite battling the flu during the week. Upchurch logged his first career start but left quickly with a sprained ankle.
Freshman tailback Trent Richardson ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns in a performance that left even teammates impressed. Receiver Mike McCoy had a career-high 100 yards receiving.
