Inmate stabbed to death at St. Clair prison

SPRINGVILLE, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama inmate is dead after a stabbing inside the state prison in St. Clair County.

A prison spokesman says 24-year-old Michael Darrell Turner was stabbed repeatedly in a dormitory at the St. Clair County Correctional Facility about 7:30 p.m. Monday. He was serving time for robbery convictions in Montgomery County.

Another inmate, 32-year-old Taurus Carroll, was placed in isolation in connection with the stabbing, which a grand jury will review. Carroll already is serving a life term for a Jefferson County murder.
