WEST POINT, GA. (WSFA) - A sinkhole on Interstate 85 just over the state line in Georgia is under repair at this hour.
The damaged road forced the shutdown of at least one lane of northbound traffic, a major artery on the route to Atlanta.
A motorist noticed the hole near Exit 2 Tuesday and contacted the Georgia Department of Transportation.
A private company is set to make the repairs, which could last through Thursday, September 17.
One lane remains open. Commuters should prepare for delays, or make alternate routes until further notice.
