MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery Police have arrested and charged an 86-year-old man with murder after a woman allegedly stole $41.00 from him.

James Murphy is accused of shooting 48-year-old Dorothy Webster in the head.

The victim apparently came to the house at 559 Myrtle Street and asked to used the restroom.

According to Montgomery Police spokesman Capt. Keith Barnett, the suspect and victim knew each other from the neighborhood.

Police say as the woman prepared to leave, Murphy shot her in the head with his .38 caliber pistol.  Webster was  pronounced dead on Murphy's front porch just after 11am Wednesday.

According to police, the shooting stemmed from Murphy's belief that Webster had stolen $41.00 from him while she was inside his home.

Murphy was arrested on the scene without incident. He's being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.

This is the capital city's 26th murder of 2009.
