Area leaders prepare for more rain

Police report the number of accidents on our roadways goes up as the rain comes down. Lt. C.D. Williams reports, "Typically in Montgomery, we have certain days where we have more accidents than others. Thursday and Fridays are two of those ."  The Montgomery Police Department keeps a close eye on the weather and has a full staff on and when rain remains in the forecast.

The local Emergency Management Agency also monitors the situation closely. With this latest rain system, EMA reports minor flooding around the area. With the May floods still fresh on their minds, they aren't taking any chances. "We did have fire and police out check the storm drains," Deputy Director Mike Stoudenmier told WSFA 12 News.

If you see a drainage ditch that is blocked, city officials want you to alert them.
