Fmr. band director guilty on sex abuse charges

CAMDEN, AL (WSFA) - The former band director for Wilcox County High School is found guilty on sex abuse charges.

Johnny Hall was convicted Wednesday on two counts of Sex Abuse 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor.

Hall was accused of fondling a female student at the school in Camden.

His attorney, Joseph Fitzpatrick, said his client was convicted in a bench trial by a district court judge. A jury did not decide the verdict.

Fitzpatrick says there was no evidence presented other than the female's statement. The defense even presented its own witness to refute her claims.

Fitzpatrick says he plans to appeal the verdict on Monday.

Hall remains out of jail on bond.
